Parenting Support
Within the context of your child’s individual therapy we can offer separate parenting sessions with your own clinician to discuss appropriate parenting and discipline strategies based on your child’s areas of concern.
We offer cognitive behavioral strategies, which have been found to be especially effective for children with ADHD and disruptive behaviors.
For parents looking for attachment-based support, we can offer parenting strategies that can help you develop a more secure bond with your child.
We can provide psycho-education and support to help you navigate your child’s diagnosis and respond in a constructive manner.
Parenting Groups
Please see below for descriptions of our parenting groups. Each of these groups can be modified to be offered in the context of individualized parenting support.
Parenting for ADHD: Support and Strategies for Parents
This 10-week group provides parents of children with ADHD and other behavioral concerns (ages 2–12) with a supportive community to learn effective child behavior management skills and strategies.
Throughout the course of the program, parents will learn to understand oppositional and noncompliant behaviors at home and at school, and develop the tools to manage and reduce them.
This program is also offered for individuals.
Circle of Security Parenting Group
This attachment-based parenting group runs on an 8-week cycle and meets for one and a half hours each week. Throughout the course of the group, parents will learn strategies to help them understand and manage their child’s behavior in a mutually respectful way.
Through the program, parents will develop tools to enhance their child’s self-esteem and foster independence while simultaneously strengthening the parent-child relationship.
This group is designed for parents of infants, children, and adolescents.
