About West Morris Psychological Associates
Postdoctoral Fellows
In addition to our psychologists, West Morris Psychological Associates employs postdoctoral Fellows.
These highly trained postdocs have completed their doctorates in psychology at American Psychological Association accredited programs. Their training includes extensive coursework, research, and teaching and a full year of clinical internship.
In the state of New Jersey, graduates of these programs must then work for three years under the supervision of a licensed psychologist as they progress toward their own licensure. During this time, post doctoral fellows hold a temporary permit to practice under supervision, which is issued by the New Jersey Board of Psychological Examiners.
At West Morris Psychological Associates, we are highly selective about the postdoctoral fellows we hire.
Many patients find it beneficial to see a postdoc because their fees are lower than the fees of our licensed psychologists. Additionally, since they are highly supervised by our experienced licensed psychologists, the quality of care is superb.
The New Jersey Board of Psychological Examiners has regulated that advertising postdoctoral fellows is not permitted. This is why you will not see our postdocs on our website, nor will they be able to advertise in any way until they are fully licensed.
